Chicago Public Library Named Best U.S. Urban Public Library System

CPL was ranked the number one library in the U.S. by the Heinrich Heine University in Dusseldorf, Germany.

A new study conducted by the Heinrich Heine University in Dusseldorf, Germany ranked the world’s top urban public library systems, resulting in what many of us already know to be true: the Chicago Public Library is #1! CPL was ranked the number one library in the U.S.

The library systems in the 31 cities the study qualified as “informational world cities” were ranked based on a range of factors including their digital resources, their kid-friendliness, and physical factors including the attractiveness and architectural significance of their spaces. Among the 31 international libraries, Chicago Public Library ranked third in the world.
