As of December 4, 2018 our stellar cohort of young professionals known as the Junior Board will officially be known as the Associate Board. The Junior Board Society will be known as the Associate Council. The group approved a name change after benchmarking with other cultural and civic organizations in the city with similar type of young professional groups. Updating their moniker to Associate Board & Council brings our volunteer ambassadors in line with other groups across the city, who represent our next generation of philanthropic leaders.
Since its inception in 2013, members of the Associate Board & Council have helped the Chicago Public Library Foundation advance its mission to fund innovative learning programs offered at Chicago Public Library, raising over $650,000 through milestone activities that include:
- Participating in Giving Tuesday and doubling our fundraising from 2016
- Hosting the wildly popular Night in the Stacks fundraising event every spring that sells out with 450 people in attendance
- Hosting super fun events like Trivia Night, Literature & Libations, and many others that friend-raise and build awareness for the Library Foundation
Members of our Associate Board & Council contribute ideas, innovation, best practices, and professional skills to their work as volunteer ambassadors with the Library Foundation that have earned them recognition as a high performing group.
We are extremely proud to have such passionate members of the Library Foundation family who are truly dedicated to the curious.
