The Chicago Public Library Foundation holds events throughout the year to raise funds and build awareness about the Foundation and its support of Chicago Public Library.

Each spring, the Chicago Public Library Foundation Associate Board sponsors Night in the Stacks, a fun-filled evening for 400+ up-and-coming movers and shakers, held in the elegant Winter Garden of the Harold Washington Library Center. A dance floor, photo booth, and specially-created cocktails make this an extraordinary evening.

Held in October, the Carl Sandburg Literary Awards Dinner, launched in 2000, recognizes the career-long achievements of some of America’s best known writers, playwrights, and artists. Recent honorees include Stephen Sondheim, Mavis Staples, Doris Kearns Goodwin, and Larry McMurtry. Dinner guests are seated with an author at each table, and the conversations are always lively!
