The Chicago Public Library Foundation’s two signature events raise important support and awareness for the Library and Foundation’s partnership.
In the spring, our sell-out Night in the Stacks event draws more than 400 of Chicago’s rising movers and shakers to the fantastic Winter Garden for an evening of dancing, amazing food and drink, and special treats—like 3D-printed keepsakes—hosted by the Foundation’s Associate Board.
Then, in the fall, the elegant Carl Sandburg Literary Awards Dinner recognizes the achievements of extraordinary writers, playwrights, and artists from across the globe. Our celebrated honorees have included Margaret Atwood, Scott Turow, Alice Walker, Stephen Sondheim, Mavis Staples, Don DeLillo, Roger Ebert, Toni Morrison, Joyce Carol Oates, Henry Louis Gates, Jr., Kurt Vonnegut, John Updike, David Mamet, Salman Rushdie, and many others. More than 800 of Chicago’s civic and business leaders join us for this unique evening—it is an event simply not to be missed!
