Our Mission, Vision, and Values
Our Vision
Power Our Library. Empower Every Chicagoan.
Our Mission
The Chicago Public Library Foundation accelerates the potential of our public library by investing in resources that transform lives and communities.
Our History
Established in 1986 by Cindy Pritzker and a core group of civic leaders, the Chicago Public Library Foundation has been the exclusive fundraising partner of Chicago Public Library for nearly 40 years. We have worked with thousands of Library champions to power above and beyond programming for Chicagoans of all ages and in every neighborhood.
Together, donors at every level have invested in accessible and equitable programs that close the academic opportunity gap, activate creativity and connection, and bridge the digital divide. Learn more about our impact priorities here.
