A Zanies Comedy Night with Library Foundation Associates

What could be better than a night out at Zanies?

A night filled with bibliophiles clinking glasses at Lady Gregory’s before heading to a special performance by Dan LaMorte – all hosted by our very own CPL Foundation Associate Board.

Get Carded, Comedy Night Details

If you don’t have plans Wednesday, May 23rd, grab a friend and head over to Lady Gregory’s for 20% off of happy hour mingling, followed by late night fun at acclaimed, Chicago comedy club, Zanies in Old Town! Tickets are on sale for $25 a person, and (for fun’s sake) have a 2 item food or drink minimum. Curtains go up promptly at 8:00 p.m.

Who’s headlining?

Great question. And the short answer is short-of-breath, crack-up Dan LaMorte!  Dan is a New York City based stand-up comedian; whom at 22 years old, had already built an impressive resume. He was featured in Comedy Central’s Comics to Watch in 2016 and had his stand-up featured on NBC Universal’s COZI TV.  Dan was showcased in the 2017 season of AXS TV’s Gotham Comedy Live and in January 2017 he released his first album “Not Enough Pieces” through On Tour Records. When not on the road, Dan is a regular at the legendary Comedy Cellar, located just one major city east in NYC.

About Zanies

Chicago is known for its improv community and to this end, Zanies is no stranger.  Founded in 1978, Zanies is now known as Chicago’s original home for stand-up comedy – and has played an influential role in the careers of many comedians; including Jay Leno, Jerry Seinfeld, Tim Allen, Roseanne Barr and Patti Vazquez. 2018 marks the 40th anniversary of the comedy club.  And it proudly touts the title of third longest continually operating comedy club in the United States. (*Thought we’d say Chicago, didn’t you?)
As an Associate Board event, all dollars and proceeds go directly to help fund vital programming in the Chicago Public Library, which continues to lead the way in innovation in Library settings for programming and resources in the City of Chicago.  Events like the Get Carded Comedy Night, would not be possible, without generous participation from our partners. To this end, we would like to thank Lady Gregory’s and Zanies for their venues and support.
A special thanks goes out to BMO Harris, Advanced Resouces, Sprout Social, Susan and Bob Wislow, Pepsico and In Memory of Barbara Lewis, without which, our programming efforts would not be possible.
