Chicago Public Library is here for You
Chicago Public Library is so much bigger than our buildings. Our doors may be closed but we will continue to every Chicagoan in every neighborhood.

Four years in the making, the new Independence branch opened its doors to the public on January 22, 2019. “Everybody was ecstatic−excitedly cheering and clapping as they walked through the doors,” describes Rory. Roberta, herself, was in tears. “The moment was overwhelming to see the library of your dreams come to life.”
This National Library Week, let’s celebrate the library. Visit your local branch. Thank your librarian. Donate to lifelong learning programs.
National Library Week kicks off this week through April 15, and at the Chicago Public Library Foundation, we have much to celebrate.
In celebration of National Library Week, we are offering a free t-shirt for every $25 donated to the Chicago Public Library Foundation. Support your local library – and get a really cool shirt!
