During the Summer Learning Challenge, Carson devoured one book after another, trying different genres that piqued his interest. He was also consistent in reading for at least the recommended 20 minutes a day – a habit that he still practices today.
For decades Chicago Public Library has challenged Chicago children to read during the summer. In 2013, with support from Mayor Rahm Emanuel, CPL redesigned its summer program to more intentionally support 21st-century learning.
