One Book, One Chicago Program

The book is just the beginning: a city-wide exploration of intriguing themes that bring our city together as community

In the fall and spring of each year, the One Book program offers Chicagoans the opportunity to come together around a thought-provoking book and its related themes. Participants explore through free book groups and events such as author talks, film screenings, performances, tours, workshops, and more. Partners at local civic, cultural, and education organizations also offer related programs—because whether the topic is music or food, there’s always more to explore!

In-branch programming at Chicago Public Library is currently suspended as a safety precaution during the COVID-19 pandemic. During this time, we encourage patrons to engage with our Library’s robust suite of free virtual and take-away resources for adults.
