Make This Summer (Learning) Count

Studies have shown that summer is a critical time for children. Students are at risk of losing more than two months’ worth of math and reading skills. More serious still is the painful truth that children who suffer the most are those from under resourced communities. This doesn’t have to be the case.

Neighbors Come Together for a New Independence Branch Library

Four years in the making, the new Independence branch opened its doors to the public on January 22, 2019. “Everybody was ecstatic−excitedly cheering and clapping as they walked through the doors,” describes Rory.  Roberta, herself, was in tears. “The moment was overwhelming to see the library of your dreams come to life.”
